Balsam of Peru

Certain:
A patient has got contact dermatitis from a product containing Balsam of Peru and does not have positive reactions to other ingredients of the product.

Probable:
If the patient has a positive reaction and history to fragrance mix, a reaction to Balsam of Peru increases the probability of clinically relevant contact allergy to fragrances.

Possible:
The patient has never reacted to products containing Balsam of Peru or fragrances. However, a reaction is possibly relevant because of cross-allergies between Balsam of Peru and many substances of plant origin especially resins (colophony), flavorings and spices.

None:
Usually ?+ and + reactions are not clinically relevant.
